Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Every day is different as an HR Apprentice. I mix work with study and can easily see the correlation between what I am learning in my day-to-day work. I am involved in a range of projects including coordinating youth outreach events, co-leading on National Apprenticeship Week and pre/onboarding activity.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love my job! I know that sounds really cliche but it is true! It's a busy role which means that effective time management is key, particularly around assignment deadline time. Nonetheless, I am supported by both my tutor/coach and line manager to bring my very best to work and to my programme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
So far, I have developed my skills in data presentation, analysis and interpretation, project management, public speaking and time management. I have completed my first apprenticeship module on Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and have learnt how to use EBP to support decision-making in my own work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I only started in January but so far... very! We had an in-person welcome day with ice breakers and info to positively kick-start the programme. Every week (during term time), we have a teaching session on line. We also have 20% off-the-job time for further reading, assignment writing or shadowing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As well as the 20% off-the-job time, I have time to speak with my line manager each week to discuss how my job and course are going. Every 8-12 weeks, my line manager, coach and I have a review meeting to see how I am getting on and put further support in place if needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The training porvider could not have been more helpful. Sessions are fun, interactive and informative. My tutor (I've only had one so far) has been great - he has a quick turn-around for work, is approachable and sends weekly 'hot topics' for us to read to keep up up-to-date with current HR issues and pracitce.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The correlation between my study and my role is clear. I also have the flexibility within my role to get more practice on things I feel I'm weaker in. For instance, I'm not as good at working with data so I asked if I could take on some work involving current recruitment and present findings to the team - the answer was 'Of course!' and 'Let me know if you need a hand and we can go through it together'.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is plenty going on. From art classes to Chinese New Year celebrations, lunches out to award ceremonies. There is always something to get involved in!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
LBG is a positive and inclusive place to work. For me, it has allowed a healthy amount of challenge teamed with support and a team who wants to see each other do well - I think that is really important.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
Even if you're nervous at the assessment centre, do try and me yourself. LBG talks a lot about 'bring[ing] your best to work' - the key words there being 'your best' not anyone else's! LBG is 'people-first' and they really do care about the person behing qualiifcations and expereince and focus on potential and enthusiasm - particularly when looking for their next generation of talent within apprenticeships.
