Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role as a Technical Application Specialist for the Workday HR system, I support the effective operation, optimisation, and continuous improvement of our HR technology. I act as a subject‑matter expert for Workday, ensuring the system is configured, maintained, and developed to meet business needs while providing a smooth and efficient user experience.
Day‑to‑day, this typically involves:
Managing Workday configuration, testing, and updates to ensure the system functions reliably and aligns with organisational requirements.
Troubleshooting system issues, analysing root causes, and providing timely resolutions for colleagues and HR teams.
Working closely with stakeholders across HR, IT, and the wider business to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Maintaining security roles, business processes, and integrations to keep data accurate, compliant, and secure.
Supporting system releases, enhancements, and new functionality by planning, testing, and communicating changes.
Producing documentation, guidance, and training materials to help users navigate Workday confidently and effectively.

I've learnt a whole host of new skills for my role, and developed others including my presentation and public speaking.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

There have been elements of confusion at times, but our course is relatively new and navigating a huge business like LBG with restructures can be difficult. Where we have felt improvement is needed, we have fed this back and seen efforts to make changes.
