Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role as a Data Analyst apprentice, I supported the business by using data to generate insights that inform decision-making. On a day-to-day basis, this involved working with a variety of data sources, checking data quality, and transforming raw data into meaningful information. I regularly used tools such as SQL, Excel and Power BI to analyse datasets, identify trends, and create clear visualisations for stakeholders.
Alongside analysis work, I collaborated closely with colleagues across different teams to understand requirements and ensure outputs meet business needs. This often included attending meetings, gathering feedback, and refining dashboards or reports based on user input. Overall, my role combined technical analysis, problem-solving, and communication to help turn data into actionable insights.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my data analyst apprenticeship programme. It has provided a strong balance between structured learning and practical, hands-on experience, allowing me to immediately apply new skills within my role. The programme has helped me build confidence in areas such as data analysis, visualisation, and stakeholder communication, while also developing my wider understanding of the end-to-end data lifecycle.
I particularly valued the opportunity to work on real business problems, as this has made the learning feel relevant and meaningful. The support from my manager, colleagues, and apprenticeship coach has been extremely positive, and the flexibility of the programme has enabled me to manage my workload effectively alongside my studies. It has significantly enhanced my technical capability but has also improved my soft skills such as storytelling and problem-solving skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I was totally new to data when I started the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship allowed me to learn completely new skills such as coding, analysis, visualisation, storytelling, data management and problem solving. It also allowed me to hone my soft skills such as impactful communication and stakeholder management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
While the programme is well structured through residentials, training resources and the end point assessment, the timelines for submission often felt confusing. I would say that the programme is very flexible and I was able to mould my learning to suit my needs.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a vast range of support from my employer. Not only from my immediate team, who immersed me in projects and allowed me to lead on pieces of work, but also from neighbouring teams, existing apprentices and the fantastic next generation talent team. There truly is a strong community of support at LBG.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My mentor did provide me with support on my projects, but was not a SME in data and therefore it was hard for them to understand the projects I was working on and provide relevant feedback. This sometimes made it hard to have clear direction and guidance when working on my projects.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Having completed the apprenticeship, I have been able to learn a vast range of skills which have allowed me to excel in my role as a data analyst. The transferable skills such as adopting a strategic analytical mindset has also allowed me to use data more strategically and add real value to my team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I assumed the role of an apprenticeship ambassador which allowed me to be involved with a wide range of activities such as : events, school engagement, podcasts, hosting live events, social media campaigns and writing blog posts.
