Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a Spectacle Maker I glaze and assemble lenses into frames, also involving quality checks throughout the process. I also order in the lenses and frames required for each job, maintain the water tank and the tint bath to a high standard.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship at Specsavers. Although challenging at times, it has helped me gain knowledge in many areas, grow my confidence and be able to learn valuable skills I can take anywhere. I enjoy the fact that you are working whilst learning, and get a dedicated off the job time slot to learn about your role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills during my apprenticeship and continue to learn after completing the apprenticeship. I have developed skills like communication with colleagues, multitasking, prioritising and learnt a lot of new health and safety based skills. I have also learnt how to glaze, block, quality check, audit and order.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured. I had regular meetings with my coaches and they were always on hand if I needed help or guidance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support and help from my employer and they made sure I was on track and hitting my goals.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my training provider. They helped me whenever I needed and nothing was too much of an ask. We had regular meetings where we would discuss how I was getting along and work out new goals.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I think the qualification helps me a lot in my role as the revision and notes I made as an apprentice can still be accessed if I need it. I can look back if I get stuck in my role and see what I learnt.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There are no extra curriculum activities at my work.
