Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
- Developing new components and/or platforms
- Communicating with clients
- Fixing bugs
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, the support within the workplace is brilliant and the lectures are easy to follow and understand.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a variety of new skills throughout working at IBM. Due to the fast-paced environment, I am constantly working on new technologies and projects, which in turn has allowed me to pick up new skills faster.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is structured very well within the university, all of the modules are taught in person and then available online afterwards. Within the workplace, there could be improvements, such as: more support / opportunities for apprentice job roles.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great amount of support from my employer, whether it be apprenticeship / learning related, or job related.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The university provides a brilliant amount of support, and they shown a good level of understanding when it comes to balancing both on-the-job learning and off-the-job learning.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel the qualification - so far - will benefit people who have less experience working in technical roles, however, if you have any beginner-intermediate experience programming or working in a workplace, I wouldn't hold the expectation of learning much new content within the first two years.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are a lot of extra-curricular activities and work-related events available within IBM. Most of these events are completely or partially subsidised. These events allow apprentices at IBM to network with the rest of the company.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There is a great amount of support, a comfortable working environment and a lot of opportunities for apprentices to be involved with different things.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
The work very much fluctuates between being a fast-paced environment, and a slower-paced environment. I would definitely consider whether this is the type of environment you'd be interested in working in before applying.
