3.4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Stage A checks on equipment, managing diary, hearing tests, private hearing aid fittings, NHS hearing aid fittings, wax checks, hearing aid repairs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
A fair amount. It's always challenging to learn something new and implement that knowledge almost immediately so it's a sharp learning curve.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Everything that I need to do my job has been new learning, I am able to develop more and learn more as a clinician every day by gaining experience and problem solving issues.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I feel like it could be structured better for my own personal learning, like one subject getting a full week of learning then another as I feel I would be able to ask more questions and understand a subject in more detail rather than splitting the learning over a large number of weeks as it feels like we're being drip fed the information and anything that's not clear is only explained 2 months later when we learn the next section.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support. I feel I am able to ask any questions and really understand what I need to do without negative judgement.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Support is always offered, on the condition that they are very busy with other cohorts so might not be able to answer on time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It's everything I need to know to do my job, so without it I wouldn't be able to do anything related to hearcare.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Manufacturer training days, PAC, occasional work meet ups.
