Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given great responsibility throughout my placement.
- E-Commerce Management and Optimisation - All changes were pulled through to the front end site at the end of each day so if you made something go live when it wasn't suppose to for example, it could cause significant issues for customer care.
- Community Management + Affiliate engagement - Clear and kind communication must be kept at all times with Stylists. They are important to the L'Oréal's business and maintaining a relationship with these stylists are of the upmost importance.
- Indirect Stylist Support - It is important to not allow a stylist to become frustrated so support must be provided as quickly as possible to maintain customer morale.
- Support on Administration - Although boring, adhoc tasks are crucial to optimising L'Oreal's methods of maintaining relationships with customers and creating ways to further increase revenue.
- E-Merchandise - It is important to ensure the best products are displayed effectively and are not hidden from the customers as this can impact revenue.
- Support Product Launches - It is crucial that product launches go smoothly as delays or technical issues can cause major issues and frustration within the teams and with the customers.
- Carry out Tests - Testing is amazing for developing new ideas to optimise and improve areas within the e-commerce platforms.
- Create content - It is important content follows legal requirements and is structured in a way that will no cause social aggression towards L'Oréal

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
L'Oréal's culture if extremely relaxed and friendly (from my experience at least). Everyone I encountered was very friendly, welcoming, and humorous. Never did I encounter any judgement or negative energy. In addition, L'Oréal from my experience was very relaxed. As long as you can prove that you are trustworthy enough to ensure tasks are completed effectively and on time, you did not need to constantly report back to your manager on your progress and performance. Working hours were also flexible. If you need to be somewhere at 5pm, you could come into work earlier in the morning in order to leave earlier and vice versa.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
It has been a highly memorable, enjoyable, and beneficial experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at L'Oréal over the last year. You meet lots of new people and you have a great time. L'Oréal itself throws a number of events and team social gatherings regularly which does definitely improve the overall experience. We've had trips to Manchester, spent whole days in cinema rooms, gone to lunches and dinners at restaurants, had a few drinks in the office sometimes, and gone to places where we have played darts, crazy golf, shuffle boarding, bowling, all at the same time helping yourself to free food and drinks while socialising with your teams. Truly a great experience!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend L'Oreal to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
Honestly, just try to enjoy it as much as you can. Don't be afraid to be yourself as everyone are just there to have a great experience as well. Really take advantage of the learning resources L'Oréal provides as they have so many modules and courses you can take for free that would otherwise cost a fortune. Definitely try to network especially outside your team and even the different divisions and everyone is doing something different and there is so much you can learn from just seeing what everyone does a little bit.
