Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Organisational tasks, creating trackers and maintaining them, ensuring the team is well equipped to do their job (by helping with onboarding, organising procurement for software/hardware), creating slide decks for reviews with the team and more senior members of the company.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is as fun as you make it for yourself, the enjoyment primary comes from engaging with other apprentices/colleagues and remaining social within your role. There are benefits to hybrid working which IBM promotes and it's good to make use of the days in office to grow your network, but the balance of WFH is great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
- Communication
- Organisation
- Time management
- Team working

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is definitely well structured but the majority of the responsibility is on you to ensure you are completing your work on time and up to the standard required of you. It is important to find balance between project work and apprenticeship work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Good support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
IBM is the training provider for the JMC apprenticeship therefore good support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I find that project experience equips you better for your role than the training provided.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Lots of networking events but you must remain communicative and involved in internal channels to be aware of them and therefore be a part of them. You can be as social as you want (if you aren't then there is no pressure to).

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great start to your career, lots of different types of professionals to learn from (wide network), and most people are friendly/helpful/down to share experiences. It is what you make it, and if you wish to grow you must put in the effort to do so.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Be interested in the culture of IBM, have an interest in ever-changing technology and innovation, be adaptable + show enthusiasm in the role you are applying for. Show your personality during interviews!
