On a day to day basis, I work on different projects that require me to engage with stakeholders, manage project documentation and facilitate meetings.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the learning from my apprenticeship as well as the day to day activities that are involved in my apprenticeship. I feel as though I'm taking another step forward into my dream career whilst being paid a living wage at the same time.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed my communication skills, stakeholder management and engagement skills, IT skills, organizational skills, time management skills, risk management skills and conflict management skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There has been some uncertainty between my organization and my apprenticeship provider however after seeking support with this, I feel like I am on the right track to get back on to a well structured apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I feel like there are lots of different types of support from my organization, such as mental health support, apprenticeship support, mentoring support, etc and these are quite easily accessible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my trainer provider who has given me access to lots of different resources and we have progress checks to ensure I am on the right track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I am able to take away the things I learn in lessons and practice them in real life scenarios which has made me feel more confident and able to progress on to a project manager role in the future. This includes things such as using project documentation, understand my organizational structure more clearly and working alongside key stakeholders.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have several networks, including (but not limited to) an LGBTQ+ Network, a Race Network, a Menopause Network, a Women in Leadership Network, etc. All of these networks meet frequently and plan in person events to fully support and engage people across the organization.

Why?
My experience overall has been positive and I feel I am moving closer and closer to reaching my goal of becoming a project manager. There are many benefits the organization offers and the support networks are very comforting to have as a new employee.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Newcastle Building Society?
Just be yourself. Newcastle Building Society looks for authentic people who's values align to the company's. I would recommend doing a little bit of research into the company before applying to explore our values and get to know them, as well as the subsidiaries that are part of NBS.
