During my apprenticeship scheme, my daily tasks and objectives consisted of supporting members of my team in the day-to-day administrative support, whilst also shadowing and gaining further knowledge around the Insurance Broking process by interacting with key stakeholders internally (i.e. senior members of staff) as well as externally (i.e. Underwriters, clients, etc.).
After completing my apprenticeship, my role has adapted into an Account Executive role, which entails a hands-on client relationship, as well as undergoing the broking aspects of an insurance placement. Further to this, I am also responsible for a number of key initiatives within my team.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme was interactive, informative and has provided me with a good platform to begin my insurance career. I have developed strong relationships and have been able to attend some very fascinating and enjoyable events.

During my time at Lockton, I have developed a number of key skills and competencies. One in particular is in relation to time management and setting expectations. Furthermore, having completed my Certificate In Insurance Qualification (CII), I have also developed and understand the key aspects of the insurance industry, more specifically developing key broking skills that I have adapted into my own style.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Internally, the structure of the apprenticeship was efficient and straightforward. A plan was set out from the outset and a strong development plan and schedule was put in place off the bat. The interaction with Davies was also good, with regular meetings put in place with support offered throughout.

There are an array of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at Lockton. one such activity is the Lockton Football Team, which I am a member of. These groups are very inclusive and provide a platform for all to get involved.

Why?
Lockton hosts a culture where every employee can feel they are an integral part to the companies business plan. The support offered, particularly at a junior level, is exceptional. The development plan established allowed for personal development, not only related to my role, but also in relation to life skills.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lockton?
Applying to an apprenticeship at Lockton - One tip I would suggest is to be yourself. Lockton thrives on it's relationships internally and externally, and that is bred by each individual having their own personalities and characteristics. Your identity is important to Lockton, so remember to be passionate and enthusiastic.
