Apprentice Electrical Engineer Review

Day to day changes all the time, role ranges from conducting general electrical maintenance on plant, to problem solving and finding faults.

The program on site is well organised by my trainer/ electrician. He will always ask me questions when we are working to make sure that I am understanding what I am doing and help develop my knowledge. He also creates test problems for me to solve by myself on isolated pieces of plant which aren't in use.

I have received a lot of support from my electrician/ trainer. He is always looking out for me and making sure that I am understanding and knowing what I am doing. He and the fitters have made me feel welcome and encourage me to interact with each other, we all make sure we are helping each other and checking in to make sure that we are okay.

College and the training provider have been great. The content provided by the college has helped me further understand the things that I am learning on site. It also helps when the lecturer enjoys to teach us which is a big bonus. I often find myself writing notes between classes and talking with the lecturers about the topics we have just been taught. This helps me understand more and I can then refer back to my notes before tests.

It helps me by giving me the deeper understanding behind the tasks that I am completing in my day to day role at the site. The material provided by the college helps me further understand the theory behind the work that I am doing. This then makes the theory more interesting in the classroom as I can refer back to where I have actually used it on site.

They also offer more training to help you grow your skill set further and allow you to learn more skills, that you may have not been able to have access in other apprenticeships.
