Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I work on a commercial team for a bank, I manage forecasts and budgets whilst working along side project managers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It’s okay. Education side of it can get a little monotonous but the actual daily work is interesting and challenging.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes many new skills:
Communication
Agility
Leadership
Courage
Public speaking
And lots more!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well organised. There is a platform which facilitates submissions and learning assignments
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots. My foundation manager pushes me in the right direction and supports me with my concerns and issues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Lots. They want us to pass with flying colours so support is always provided when we need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The consulting qualification gives an overall view of the skills you need as a management consultant. We learn many skills so some of them are relevant to the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
This is where IBM fails in my opinion. The social scene isn’t great considering we chose not to go to university. There should be more things going on, provided by the company for networking and socialising.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a good company if you like their culture. It’s not for everyone’s taste though.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Learn our core competencies and have examples for all of them.
