Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role requires one day a week which is declared as a study day. In this day I complete all my university work and ensure I am on top of all assignments. We have knowledge, skills and behaviours which we learn during the degree time. These knowledge, skills and behaviours are then adopted to the workplace where we apply these to our day to day role.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Personally, I very much enjoy my degree apprenticeship. I enjoy learning new information and I very much enjoy applying it to the workplace as this reinforces what I have learned.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have became more organised in terms of managing my job and my degree. I have also learned business skills that I can apply to my daily job. Some of the most valuable skills I have learnt are project management and planning and marketing, sales and customer service.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel the course is very well structured and organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support I have received has been excellent. I am able to put in our team planner when assignments are due and the team are supportive and helpful around these times.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I’d say there could be improvements in terms of actually being supportive with helpful feedback. However, overall I would say it is OK.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I do very much believe that the work I do, reflects in my job role and helps me perform better. This is because I am now applying the leadership skills and also looking out for particular areas I am familiar with to make connections.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, at IBM there are so many social events and activities to take part in. I am apart of some networking events that occur. These are more one off events rather than a social.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
IBM is an amazing diversified business to be apart of. The amount I have learned in such a short space of time is brilliant, but also I am surrounded by great minds who inspire me every day. My role models are now my colleagues and my efforts to my degree apprenticeship and my role are now amplified due to the support I receive and the positive attitudes I am surrounded by.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Stick to a routine. Ensure in the mornings you prepare for your day, write down the main tasks for the day and work through them in an order of priority each day. Practise taking on constructive criticism and make sure to apply it. IBM employees have a standard to their work and you need to be able to take on feedback without taking it personally. Try to network and be face to face with colleagues as much as possible. I’d say working on organisation and effective communication is the most important traits to try to accomplish.
