Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day my role includes answering the phone when end users and suppliers call with issues. We then either fix the issue or pass it on to the technical team. I run daily data loads into live production, write monthly service reports and attend client meetings for multiple live services
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The apprenticeship itsenf is hard. I struggle with ADHD so writing long essays every week is hard. The education provided by IBM is top notch anf they support me to ensure I am still on track to finish my course on time as planned. As difficult as it is, it is worth it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a mountain of new skills. I joined as non-technical with zero experience. Now I run daily data loads into live service, create accounts for clients to use our service, reset technical sessions and write reports detailing everything that has happened the previous month. I also use AWS and impex data every day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very structures. In the first year and a half there are mandatory, day long courses that give you the knowledge you need to know to pass the end criteria. After the courses are finished there is a lot of focus on finishing the writing pieces as well as the self paced learning courses.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I recieve a lot of support. I have lots of meetings with project managers and apprenticeship managers to ensure I am both happy with the work I am doing and happy with my progress on the apprenticesip programme. I have never felt as if I have not received the support that I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have multiple meetings a month to ensure I am still on track to finish on time. There are opportunities to go over your work and see where you can improve. There are also meetings with other apprentices to help each other with queries. The two years comes around very quickly
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
A lot of the training is people based. There are very helpful courses provided on a variety of subjects. At the same time, the real life experinece helps learning the material easier. As you progress through the apprenticeship it becomes easier to relate your own experiences to the learning material
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra cirriculars. There are committees and groups that run social events and learning seminars. There are weekly free tea and buscuit/cake events as well as special events, such as firework night. In the summer there have been times when they have rneted out ice cream vans and given everyone free ice cream.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It has overall been a good experience. I am being payed to recieve an education as well as getting 2 years experience under my belt. At the end of it I have a job and am already settled into a stable career. I have already built up a good network of collegues and friends
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
As over used as it is, be yourself. I had no technical knowledge coming into this job but they still hired me. they want people with a good attitude. They know they can train you up to be knowledgable of the industry but they can't teach you to have a good attitude
