Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a digital analyst in the social media department of Channel 4. I review and analyse the performance of the social content across the different Channel 4 social pages. I also create dashboards that aid my team and other teams to create self serving features when they are faced with a brief.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship and I feel very grateful for having the opportunity to work at Channel 4. The people are very welcoming and there are a lot of opportunities to learn about different areas of the company. The training providers are also very useful as they teach me about a lot of relevant topics that I use in my day-to-day life at Channel 4.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a lot since starting my apprenticeship at Channel 4. I previously had very little experience in an analysts role. I did work experience for a week in a marketing department for a week during a levels. I have learned a lot about different software that analysts use and their functionality such as Tableau and PowerBI. And also learnt about different coding languages like Python and SQL

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is well organised. We have training sessions allocated in a calendar so we can look ahead to see when they will occur. Channel 4 is very well organised especially with managing workload, they use software like Monday.com to keep track of our schedules and they also make sure that the apprenticeship work is a priority.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a great supportive network within Channel 4 with multiple different people and areas you can go to that will help you with different issues. There is my manager who always makes sure I feel comfortable with what I am doing and shows a lot of interest when I'm stuck with something.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have been getting a good amount of support from the training provider to help with the portfolio. Currently, they provide feedback sessions where they can go through where you are up to with the portfolio and what else needs adding. They also provide us with the criteria information that we need to tick off.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The criteria that I must follow when completing the portfolio document include points that are relevant to my work. There are knowledge, skills, and different behaviours that I must apply to my work. A qualification will be achieved through the demonstration of this criteria which will be useful going forward.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are plenty. I recently signed up for the 5-a-side football team. There are regular events during work hours like the fika where food is served. There are quiz nights, karaoke nights as well as team fun. There are MVE away days where we attend a meeting where food is served and an activity usually follows. As well as different meetings on various topics to do with society.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Channel 4 to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because there is a great support network. There are other apprentices besides yourself that are great to talk to. The office is new and is a great working environment. There is a cafe upstairs. And it can provide you with a lot of opportunities even outside of the role you may take on for your apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Channel 4?
Make sure you fully express your individuality when going through the application process. This is what will make you stand out above the rest of the applicants. I would also recommend that you conduct some research into Channel 4 and understand their remit and values as that is something that is referenced in all of the work that I complete.
