Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The programme furthered my understanding of Rothschild's well-respected advisory services, with insight provided by the firm's employees who were incredibly receptive and knowledgeable. Additionally, I was afforded the opportunity to network with my peers and forged great relationships with those participating on the insight week. The four days culminated with a presentation, in which my group and I proposed a potential acquisition to senior bankers and fellow interns.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was incredibly informative to gain insight into all areas of the business, especially the Welfare and Community Investment aspects which proceeded to fortify the exceptional culture of the firm. Gaining an understanding about the multiple roles available within Rothschild & Co. also helped me to comprehend which career pathway might suit me best following the completion of university education.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
As participants on the programme, we developed industry-specific knowledge regarding the methodology necessitated to compute the value of a firm; a pivotal calculation required within the M&A sphere. Further skills developed include that of PowerPoint formatting alongside learning how to navigate Microsoft Teams effectively!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was portrayed exceptionally well throughout the programme; this was reflected in the employees' enthusiasm for the company and the HR department who proceeded to instill a warm and welcoming environment from the very first interaction.

I suppose wider commercial knowledge is always a brilliant foundation upon which one can look to make a successful application to Rothschild & Co as it will enable you to excel within the structure of the assessment centre. Collaboration is also pivotal within group work and the importance in being yourself throughout the process cannot be emphasised enough!
