Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Engagement with all areas of the organisation to help build a rapport with them, primarily other IT functions to improve automation and review of audit actions. Engage with the IT Security team closely to help deliver the Cyber Security Strategy as a collective team when working on numerous objectives. I have held communications with vendors and suppliers to ensure my technical understanding is always improving and relationships are kept positive.

Very well structured with 3 exams and plenty written work. Mentor/tutor always on hand to help me with my work. Exam courses well organised with a good learning plan and prep to help with the exams. Coursework is required to be very detailed but helps improve my knowledge well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive sufficient support from my employer, my line manager, my piers and my work colleagues. Sufficient enough support to the extent that I can balance both my work and my apprenticeship coursework well. Given a days learning each week to dedicate time towards my apprenticeship written work to help meet deadlines.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Exam courses well organised with a good learning plan and prep to help with the exams. Coursework is required to be very detailed but helps improve my knowledge well. Some of the work I carry out in my qualification is beneficial to my day to day work at the Building Society.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are extra carricular activities that I can get involved in at work, for example we have one day of the year dedicated to volunteering which would help me meet other people in the business, there are other social activities organised by the business which I can get involved in too.

Because it is a great place to work with friendly members of staff and they try to ensure that there is a good positive culture within the organisation. Most departments include roles which have no two days the same, there is always opportunity to learn more and to progress your personal development.

Ensure that you are a positive minded person who is willing to get behind the culture that the business is trying to create. Ensure that the job you are applying for is going to give you the chance to have a positive impact and feel a sense of pride in the work that you do, knowing it is contributing to helping the local community.
