Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Finding ways to deliver savings for CEVA Logistics deliveries. Usually managed by reviewing and tweaking delivery profiles for large customers. My role also has a priority of improving reporting and data usage for internal and external customers to improve customer relations. I have very few daily tasks and the role is more project based, but I do maintain internal cost reports.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I will genuinely miss the interactions with my trainer, Penny, and the other CEVA employees on the course. It was a great opportunity to meet and understand the roles of other employees, and even led to opportunities to go and work with some after understanding what impact my role has on them. For example, heading to the Under Armour contract to meet someone from the apprenticeship to improve their reports.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Certainly. At the start of the apprenticeship I had very little experience or exposure of managing a team, but I was asked to help out with Team Leading and Ops Managing a warehouse/Transport team about half way through the apprenticeship and called on alot of what I had learned at the beginning. I was also able to call on those experiences for the remainder of the apprenticeship, particularly for things like conflict resolution, managing a budget and giving my team a culture and purpose.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Now I have reached the end, looking back I can see the structure more clearly. I think at the beginning I mainly knew I had to study textbooks, add some additional learning, be involved in a routine class, and fill in workbooks. But now I can look back on my portfolio of evidence I can see why this was all relevant, and perhaps didn't understand that at earlier points.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Whatever I needed was provided by my employer. I was given time to work on the apprenticeship whenever needed, and at one point when I was covering night shifts on an operation, I was provided with time to catch back up with any classes, reading or workbooks that I might have missed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Penny was always available and replied to all communications very fast. This was really handy as quite often I wouldn't know when I would be working on apprenticeship materials, so any questions I had would be at random times, so getting a quick reply meant I could carry on straight away. Penny's attitude was great too, never did I feel like an answer anyone gave was not listened to.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Since completing my course I have already applied for an internal role. I certainly wouldn't have had the confidence to apply for this as it's more operational that my current role which isn't something I'm most comfortable with. I certainly feel more confident in understanding CEVA and the industry too, which comes from the routine conversations with others on the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have had them more in the past, such as social events and sports clubs like a weekly football game and charity quizzes. This stopped with not being allowed in the office, but is slowly coming back now with the jubilee celebrations incoming soon. I am also enrolled to receive Mental Health First Aider training from CEVA which would be responsibilities on top of my usual role.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CEVA Logistics to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have always felt valued and looked after by CEVA. During my time I have moved internally 3 times, and recently applied for another. 2 of those times was because I was on a contract that another logistics company won, but CEVA provided me with an opportunity to stay rather than move to the other company which is nice to know that they valued me.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CEVA Logistics?
Say 'Yes' to any opportunities to work with other teams and other roles. CEVA have a requirement for employees that understand the Operations side of things, and the central functions side, so if you have experience of both it's a great way to understand how your changes impact other teams.
