Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Software developer, making code changes and managing releases of a product
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I love the working aspect of the apprenticeship, the university side isn't so great as to be expected with any educational institute. This is due to the quality of the university.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have acquired a vast new skillset in new languages, techniques and technologies through my role as well as developing skills in areas I am interested in

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is fairly well structured with education sessions and courses at work as well as with the university but for the most part it is very open and free for you to work as you want.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Plenty of support in any aspect of the apprenticeship, university or workplace
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Communication from the university is very poor and the management and organisation is greatly lacking
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
They provide little to no influence over my actual skills and role in the workplace, everything I could need for my role I can learn on the job. The university is outdated and often fails to meet industry expectations.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are endless communities, events and giveback opportunities to get involved in, in any area of interest.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Excellent atmosphere, really great support and working environment, and great pay & benefits!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
They are looking for qualities not necessarily expertise or qualifications, IBM prefer that you are a problem solver and team-worker over you being fluent in a programming language or technology
