Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Summer Analyst in the Energy & Power team - Generally supporting the team by working on live deals (including lots of PowerPoint and excel tasks) and carrying out research to prepare briefing materials.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

A lot of responsibility - I prepared material that was sent straight to clients and had my own individual role within each deal team.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

There’s a chute learning curve. Even coming from an Economics background, I was amazed by how much I learnt in such a short period of time. Rothschild & Co give incredible exposure to junior staff, meaning that it’s the best environment to begin your career in. I massively improved my time management and efficiency, as well as technical Excel and accounting skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Am incredible amount of support was offered. Each intern was assigned a set Buddy who would help guide us and was a point of contact, but everyone in the firm is so approachable and wanting to help, that it’s a very supportive environment.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture at Rothschild & Co is truly unique and collegiate. All throughout the summer I had nothing but support, and everyone from all seniorities made a big effort to make the interns feel welcome and valued.
