Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My apprenticeship Involves many different roles which you can choose to do. Currently I am a Business Analyst where I join client meetings, create spreadsheets and slide decks, create user stories, join workshops. I have learnt so many new IT skills.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love the programme I am on due to the flexibility of all different roles you can take part in as you don't get bored and can gain experience in different sectors. I have met so many different people and can't wait to continue on this programme
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Within my apprenticeship so far I have learnt so many new skills. The key skills I have learnt are relationship building which is vital when speaking to clients. I have also learnt IT skills when created spreadsheets etc. I have also developed my communication skills especially whilst working from home.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

This Programme is extremely well structured. We have 80% on the job/project work. And 20% of that (one day a week) is completing your Individual learning Plan, acting as the 'college' work. We also log our 20% of the job hours- e.g. non-project work/ things you've learnt
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received amazing support from my employer especially since working from home. Whenever you feel you need to talk/ are behind/ are struggling, you can put in a call with any of your managers/mentors and they are willing to help you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
IBM acts as it's own training provider, therefore we get support as we go on because our managers can see our progress throughout our learning plan. We have set dates which each section needs to be finished so we can stay on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

All of the Learning tasks/courses/badges we do during the apprenticeship all relate to the job- this is why it's called "My Individual Learning Plan" as each of the courses are set out to help you excel throughout the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Within the apprenticeship scheme as part of 'Off the job hours' we are encouraged to get involved in 'giveback' where you help to benefit the IBM community- For example, I am in an events team which we plan social events for apprentices to meet up and take part in activities.

Yes
Why?
IBM is such a huge company with so many different pathways to success. The support you gain from colleagues and managers is amazing and there are so many exciting things to take part in.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Apply fast! Be professional on your application but if you get the interview just be yourself.
There is an assessment centre as part of the application process which includes teamwork tasks so make sure to involve all members but also take the lead slightly without being selfish.
