Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a consultant, I work with my team to provide digital solutions to clients. Most of my days consist of 1 or 2 meetings and usually some technical implementation in between. 1 day a week I spend doing off-the-job training.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
My programme is relatively self-lead and most of the time I am trusted to work on my apprenticeship responsibilities on my own. However, support is very much available and provided when required.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
IBM has supported and encouraged me to learn lots of new skills as well as build upon what I already know. They have funded certifications I want to obtain and also provide an extensive amount of learning resources for developing skills of all kinds.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My experience working at IBM has been well-structured. I have been offered training courses and had a full induction when joining.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive extensive support from IBM. This includes mentorship, review meetings and learning support. I also get lots of technical support to help me succeed on my programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider offers a coach who guides and helps me through the entire process. This includes any guidance to problems I might have and makes the programme engaging.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The courses I study complement my course quite well however I would say they only give me a shallow understanding of the concepts in comparison to what I do on the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There are some but because of the current climate they are limited to online events for the most part.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great place to develop your skills and they are an employer who are willing to invest in your development.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
If you are applying for an apprenticeship at IBM I would recommend doing as much research and preparation before applying as possible. Then you can tailor your application to this information.
