During the 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme I was introduced to the Rothschild & Co, Rothschild & Co Archives, Global Advisory, Wealth Management departments and case studies. It also included sessions with junior bankers on networking, wellbeing and community investment as well as a fantastic final group presentation at the end.
To what extent did you enjoy your virtual experience?

From the moment I received the first reply, to the very last follow up email, I sincerely enjoyed taking part in the 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme. Although the programme was virtual, I was able to successfully engage and take part in all sessions. Rothschild & Co made sure the programme run smoothly.
How well organised was your virtual experience?

The 2021 Pioneer Work Experience ProgrammeIt was very well organised and structured. Given the timetable and any additional information at the start of the programme really helped me organise the week ahead of the programme and run the programme seamlessly. In addition, there were plenty of breaks and skills sessions throughout the week.
How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

The 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme really helped me understand about the environment within banking and different departments/divisions. Now I look forward to working at Rothschild & Co.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?

Since it was a virtual work experience, I did not require to travel or stay in an accommodation in London. However, if I had required more adequate technology or resources, Rothschild & Co would have definitely helped me with any issues.

Some training and skills development sessions we have include: icebreakers, business etiquette, group work (for presentation), networking, communication, researching, career progression, interview, wellbeing, community investment/engagement and analytical skills.

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

Throughout the 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme I learned many things from the Rothschild & Co's culture, ethics and way of doing business. I learned from the experiences of analysts and senior bankers and their day to day roles across the bank's divisions and departments including about Rothschild & Co Archives and its rich history.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Throughout the 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme I was able to meet other like minded students, bankers and professionals working at Rothschild & Co. Rothschild & Co helped me expand my network and networking skills.

Would you recommend Rothschild & Co to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Many of my friends look forward to working within the finance industry and specially investment banking. However, the 2021 Pioneer Work Experience Programme will also help students, who are not really interested in finance, find about the different areas within a bank and how they could apply their existing skills to a specific division or job role within finance.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rothschild & Co?
Research about your job role, about Rothschild & Co and its culture, ethics and overall background/current projects which they are doing. Prepare for the application process, enjoy it and be yourself.
