Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

On a daily basis my role includes analyzing data and reporting to the senior leadership team. I am also currently managing a team of people to create a chatbot.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Definitely, my responsibilities included reporting for EMEA and sending these numbers to worldwide.
The chatbot was a new initiative that my manager and I started in January, I was given a lot of responsibility to manage the team and ensure there was progression being made.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

This year I have developed my skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
My role has allowed me to better my soft skills - such as teamwork, communication and time management.
I have developed some basic skills in python also!

I was overwhelmed with the amount of support I received from other interns, colleagues even people from the senior leadership team. No matter how senior people are at IBM they always make time for you!

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

One of the reasons I joined IBM was because of the people, after my placement year I can say that it was the right decision. The atmosphere is amazing (even if it was virtual!), everyone is so welcoming and supportive even if you are an intern!

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Although my placement year was virtual at IBM, I thoroughly enjoyed every part of it - the work I did in my day to day role, the giveback opportunities I took part in, the foundation community I became a part of and the general atmosphere!
