Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
My role in my first placement involves invoicing the customer. It involves being involved in weekly cash forecasting meetings in if their is a variance and why that is. Also I am responsible for running weekly and monthly reports for the different members in my department. I also communicate with the customer when claims are to be made
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the the programme as I am getting real work experience as well as gaining a creditable qualification and learning at the same time. The team are very helpful in my day to day tole and very supportive when I have exams and studying to do every few months.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed many skills in my current role at BAE systems. I have developed my time keeping skills as I have my own workload and my own responsibilities. Also, I have developed my teamwork skills being involved with a small team and having to communicate with them frequently on a daily basis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is very well structure we move around the business every 6-12 months depending on the placement so we get to see all aspects of how the business works. This is helpful for when we come to exit the scheme in 5 years time we have the relevant experience to carry out our role effectively.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
we receive lots of support from our employer they put in meetings for regular catchups every month which allow us to express any concerns we have or what we find works well about the apprenticeship. Also having the support system of other apprentices works well as well in the buisiness.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I would say we receive a fair about of support. Due to covid our training is now online so we have lost that face to face contact which in turn you lose that support. due to the circumstances we receive the amount of support possible i would say. This makes it a great training provider
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
having my training though a training provider rather than distance learning helps massively. It allows you to always to have someone to ask questions to and to help you rather than struggling on your own with no one to ask. They also provide you with materials to help you with the process.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra curricular activities that you can get involved in at BAE systems. These are called stretch activities which you need to get involved in as part of your apprenticeship. You can get involved in the COMMS meetings we have as well as getting involved with the apprentice council.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
BAE is a great place to work. They are very supportive and are always encouraging you to better yourself as a person, you career and in education nothing is off limits as long as you are willing to be committed and make the most of what they have to offer you.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
The tips I would give someone is apply if you are well and truely wanting to the best for your career and are prepared to work hard to get where you want to be. A five year apprenticeship is a long time but make the most of the time you have in the apprenticeship.
