Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Personally responsible for managing project commercials, using strong quantitative and qualitative skills to forecast revenue based on expected headcount.
Required collaborating and working with senior leaders and stakeholders across the FSS business unit on a day to day / operational basis demonstrating financial understanding and control
Working in a PMO role I was able to gain exposure into how AI technology is being used within the Financial Services Industry while understanding the structure, operations and goals of both IBM and the client.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Although I had a slow start when joining IBM to getting onto a role It has been extremely enjoyable. I have been able to pick up a lot of new skills and sat industry certifications which help for the long term. I have also been able to develop great friendships and connect with inspiring people

During my time at IBM, I have learned a lot of new skills. To begin with, my professionalism is something I've just recently gained as a result of the increased number of meetings I attend where I have to present and speak to the client. I have also been able to develop my technical skills with Excel and IBM AI solutions such as Watson

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe the programme is well-organised and sets you up for success on your apprenticeship. Everyone gets an early professional manager who is on hand to help at all times and checks in on a daily basis to see how I'm performing in terms of welfare, apprenticeship and career development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My early professional manager is the one who organises calls with me to discuss how i am getting on and always provides me with help and motivation throughout. The programme sets you up to be able to form relationships with other apprentices who are also always available to help and support you.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support given from the IBM is good and I have been given a good network of people that I can reach out to if I need any additional help, clarification of equipment. There is plenty of training that you can take and you are allowed to allocate time within the day to apprenticeship work that helps to meet the deadlines and stay on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I am not so sure whether this qualification actually does help me do my job better ad I have not yet transitioned into a more senior role where i think it will come in handy. You definitely do explore important areas as part of the apprenticeship requirement which is there to help you expand your knowledge which helps to gather and become adept in new areas
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are plenty of extra activities that you can get involved in every year there are the corporate games where you compete against other companies in a variety of different sports. This normally takes place at a vacant university in the early autumn time. If you participate it is great fun and helps to expand your network

Why?
I would recommend IBM to a friend as it is a great company to kick start your career with. There is plenty of learning to gain and experience which helps go a long way. Being at an innovative tech company allows you to continuously learn and pick up new skills while being able to work with some inspiring people
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
When applying to IBM I would make sure to do a lot of research about some success stories and current projects that IBM are running in various different industries. I would make sure to align your skills to your chosen apprenticeship pathway on your CV and show why you are so passionate about joining the company. Tips for the assessment centre would be just to be yourself and make sure to use communication skills throughout and get stuck in!
