Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I design and build software based from requirements set by clients. Day-to-day I pick up requests to make changes to online banking sites. I also peer check and review other team members code to ensure that it's correct.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme! I've met some amazing apprentices and the training mentors are really supportive. My line manager and team at work are also very supportive of my apprenticeship and they're always happy to help with my coursework and if I have any questions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt how to work in a business environment along with how to organize my time effectively to complete both my coursework and business as usual work. I've also learnt how to work both independently as well as in a team. I've also developed my skills in coding.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very structured. I have 12 assessment plans to complete which cover different skills and I have a total of 2 multiple choice exams which I complete at the end of my online theory based weeks. I know everything regarding my course well in advance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer. The team and my managers are always available to help with any coursework and they're also incredibly supportive if I have a lot on my plate. They allocate me time to revise and to complete my coursework without being interrupted by business as usual every other week.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. They help me with any questions I have regarding examinations and coursework. They also set me a lot of mock exams which helps me to revise and prepare. In addition to this, I also have frequent check-ins with my mentor to see how I'm getting on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I've learnt more about the different roles in the software development lifecycle which helps me to understand where I fit in within the business. I've learnt a lot about good coding practice which I use day-to-day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I'm encouraged to participate in volunteering events which are in partnership with the NU Foundation and the Princes Trust. My team also hosts a virtual pay day quiz night at the end of the month.
