Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is focused on performance testing and this requires; test planning, scripting, test execution, collating and reporting. These tasks can vary on how often I complete them but this is based upon the project work of the client.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, I feel there are a lot of opportunities available to me. All you have to do is push yourself out of your comfort zone and then you will see the possibilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed a lot of new skills. I have built up a lot of programming skills especially using C. I had also never used testing tools and have picked up how to use these by using parameters and correlation to ensure the tests I create can be automated.
I have improved my conversational skills and have been able to use them when presenting to my colleagues and also my clients.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a clear structure of internal and external courses that I must undergo during my apprenticeship, they are usually graded and help to determine whether I need extra training or whether I am competent.
GKA are also great as there is regular cadence with my apprentice coach to ensure that I am on track with my portfolio. The timeframes are clear and I know what is happening.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a lot of support available, I have been assigned specific managers who are always happy to help. There are then other managers who are available if I prefer to reach out to them even if they are not specifically assigned to me.
Another great thing is that senior IBMers are happy to be mentors and I have gained a lot of support from this route.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have monthly meetings with my training provider to talk through my portfolio evidence and they review it on the call with me and help me to ensure that I am producing work to the highest level.
They are also available by email and I have contact information for a few of the team at GKA, but I have never needed to use them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification has equipped me with a lot of the skills that I will use in my role. They are also very useful in preparing me for work after my apprenticeship to ensure that when I finish, I am a competent employee.
I haven't encountered anything in my role where I feel my qualification has not prepared me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in. I am personally involved with a Diversity & Inclusion team focusing on how we can improve that in our business. I also help with a sales initiative to help boost the opportunities available to the business to grow revenue. There is a sporting event planned for the end of the year and we cant involved with varied sports.
