Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involved helping anyone on the Account with various tasks. There were calls (meeting in real life) daily which I attended. I got involved with many different projects within my team and also external to my team. I had quite a few responsibilities by the end of the year.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given lots of responsibility in my placement year but only when I had earned the trust to take on this work.

I have greatly developed my excel and powerpoint skills. I have also hugely grown in professional confidence in both presenting and contacting.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received ample support and guidance in my year. It was harder given it was all online but I always knew I had someone who could help and didn't feel bad contacting them.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Great company culture, they all made me feel welcome from the start. Again, being online made it harder to get the real atmosphere, especially when the rest of the team were all adjusting too.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my year. The only drawback was not meeting the team in person but that was unavoidable due to COVID.

What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
It's a great place to get an undertanding of big corporations for a year and see if you're suited to them! It's a tough application process but worth it for the experience you get throughout the year (if you're willing to put in the work!).
