Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I spent my week of work experience shadowing lots of different job roles within the company. I met lots of different employees inside and outside of the company and asked questions to gain a deeper insight into what their job consists of. Some of the tasks I was given to complete include: researching total revenues, creating an invitation for an event, and arranging travel routes. I also was able to sit in on a few of the meetings the employees had.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very interesting to learn about all the roles available in insurance as this was something I didn't have much previous knowledge of. I now have a much better insight into what a career in insurance could consist of and the different areas of it I could go into.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Throughout my work experience, I developed a much clearer understanding of the insurance sector and the different job roles within it. I also developed my skills in meeting and speaking to new people, which has helped my to increase my confidence inside and outside of a work environment.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I found the atmosphere at Lockton extremely friendly and positive! Everyone I met was very kind and made me feel very comfortable to ask all my questions. Everyone I met also gave me lots of information about their role and how they were able to get there which helped me to develop a better insight into all of the different jobs within insurance and the best ways to get into the industry.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the insight as I learnt a lot, met lots of new people who were all extremely friendly and helpful, and increased my own confidence in speaking to new people. My work experience placement was also very well-structured and organised and the employees all put lots of effort into making the week as insightful and enjoyable as possible for me.

I would say to speak to as many people in different roles and ask as many questions as possible to make the most of their time at Lockton.
