Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role at IBM includes managing the onboarding and offboarding for all new resources entering the Public Sector Account I am aligned to. In addition to this, the role includes managing account comms, all hands calls and also client relationship management RE the Project Management Office space.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
IBM interns in general are given a higher level of responsibility as the culture of the company does not treat you like an intern, rather you are treated as another more junior resource. This means you are given the same chances to network, work on new things and participate in initiatives and charity/events.

Yes, this role and the scheme as a whole teaches every 'intern' a plethora of skills, including soft skills and role specific skills that can be used at other large global firms.

A lot! The culture around early professionals is very robust and therefore a lot of support is given to you as you assimilate into a wider culture of apprentices, grads and shorter terms interns, all working towards a career in tech, research or consulting.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Culture is great, everyone is very motivated and clever. There is a lot to get used to on joining, however you find yourself picking up without realising.

What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
Be candid and do your research! IBM is very large and therefore there is a lot of things that can be asked to you during the interview stages. Furthermore, I would recommend getting on LinkedIn ASAP, everyone at IBM is very kind and so will be happy to answer any questions, especially those who are current on previous futures interns or placements.
