Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a data analyst I was mainly involved with handling data. I transform, clean, manipulate and processed data so that it can then be analysed and further manipulated to feed into machine learning models. I would also send out data reports to other teams which needed data. I was also involved in the data pre-processing stages. During my time I would also do exploratory data analysis and visualise data by building dashboards.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes I was in charge of a small use case which gave me a good sense of responsibility and allowed me to manage my own tasks.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I sharpened by Python programming skills, SQL skills, learned how to build dashboards and also visualise data. I also gained more confidence in presenting in front of a big audience.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a good amount of guidance in terms of introducing me to different use cases etc. But when it came to the more complicated and technical work, only one person did most of the knowledge transfers and I didn't get to learn as much as I wanted to.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The work culture there was very laid back and more relaxed. Everyone was friendly and willing to support you with anything. I enjoyed working with my team because of the support.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my year and I think I developed as a person a lot during my placement. It gives you a good insight to what it is like working in industry but also when you go out and work in a team with older people, you mature and gain soft skills as well as technical skills that they pass down. It was given me more confidence and has made me decide what I want to pursue in my future career.
