Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Day to day tasks included updating webpages, advertising, editing internal team newletter, writing documentation and some software development. I would also work on a personal project alongside these tasks that would last several weeks eg. creating chat bots, rebranding projects.
I talk to my team everyday in a stand up. Since my placement was remote due to COVID-19, I never interacted with any external clients, however that wouldn't have occured in a normal year.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Personally I was never given any major responsibility during my placement, I very much felt like an intern. You will often find you don't have enough work to do. I would say it depends on the team you end up in during your placement.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
IBM offers countless learning opportunities. Whilst being here I have completed 12 industry recognised badges, including how to create chat bots, IBM Agile Explorer, Data Science Foundations, Statistics 101.
I have learnt how to set up client product demonstrations using a virtual environment and have developed a better understanding of several programming languages (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python).
I have also developed a solid understanding of cloud computing after attending free courses offered by IBM.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Support from Early Professional Managers and Task Managers is great, everyone is willing to help you. On placement you have 2 managers, one for your welfare and a line mananager. Both managers offer you huge amounts of support and they will do their best to develop you. My Task manager had a very hectic schedule, but always found time to help and support me.
