Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Rothschild ran a number of sessions each day, which included a combination of information sessions, networking opportunities, workshops and time allocated for a group project. The main information sessions were regarding Global Advisory, Debt Advisory, Equity Advisory and a more general introduction to investment banking, but there were also informative sessions specifically regarding the company values. There were many opportunities to ask questions during and at the end of the sessions.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
I have come away from the experience definitely feeling like I know the company's values, opportunities and employees very well. We were given information about a variety of departments and teams at Rothschild and there was a lot of opportunity to engage with employees at all different levels within the company. I think the high level of engagement and possibility for questions definitely assisted in my understanding of the business.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The programme has been incredibly beneficial for my confidence in networking. We were given opportunities to virtually meet with analysts, a female banker panel and our 'buddies' to ask them any questions we may have and exchange contact details. The group project we were tasked with has also hugely developed my team working skills, as well as improved my ability to comprehend large quantities of data in short periods of time.

Company Culture

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight
5/5
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I found everyone at the company very approachable, friendly and willing to answer any questions. All of the employees were also very happy to give out their contacts details in case we had more questions in the future. I was very pleasantly surprised at the culture of the company because I had preconceptions that it might be slightly competitive and intimidating, and this was mostly definitely not the case.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend Rothschild & Co to a friend?
Yes
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rothschild & Co
Definitely for the interview/ assessment centre stage, just be yourself and try to be as friendly and positive as possible. You're not expected to know much about investment banking at all so its the perfect opportunity to ask questions and learn all about it. I think the most important thing when applying is trying to convey your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
