Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

We started the day with a standup during which each team member would give an update on the status of the user stories they were working on. After this I would code for the rest of the morning. In the afternoon I would often take the opportunity to discuss the project with my tech leads to absorb knowledge from them.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes- I had frequent 1-to-1 meetings with the client and I was able to take responsibility for development of major sections of a production application.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes- IBM provides a multitude of opportunities to learn new skills using the Your Learning platform. In addition, through my role as a developer I learn a lot 'on the job' where I have learnt both new skills and developed existing skills. IBM has also sponsored me to sit the AWS Solutions Architect certification

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

A lot - the support from my team, in particular my tech leads, my manager and other interns has been unmatchable. Everyone at IBM is super happy to support you no matter how senior they may be.
