Sales Associate

As a current Sales Associate graduate at Computacenter, the first 10 months of the programme are all about exploring the business through a series of rotations. You get exposure to different teams and capabilities, which really helps you understand how everything fits together and where you might want to specialise. It’s also a great chance to meet people across the company, not to mention there being plenty of travel involved, from partner offices in London to off-site locations (which yes means lots of free and delicious food!).

Some of my highlights so far have definitely been the experiences the programme has opened up. From networking events and team socials to visiting amazing venues (the O2 has been a personal favourite!), it’s been a really fun and engaging way to learn.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was presenting in front of senior leadership with no notes or slides. It was completely freestyle and definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone. Although it was a high-pressure situation, it taught me so much. I’ve become more confident in public speaking, learned how to stay calm under pressure, and most importantly, how to clearly articulate value. Getting feedback from such experienced people in the industry was also incredibly valuable, an opportunity you do not get at just any organisation.

For the final 6 months, you then move into what’s called the “guided role” phase. This is where you shadow a colleague in your team and start getting hands-on with the actual role. It’s the first time you’re really doing the day-to-day job, building practical skills, and gaining exposure to customer interactions which is where everything you’ve learned starts to come together.
