Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day to Day I will use trend forecasting sites such as WGSN to curate trends. From this I will research products and prints which are then presented to the buyers. I also have the chance create prints ourselves

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given the chance to curate my own trends with the guidance of my manager. I was also given the responsibility of presenting the Key macros for the homeware department. I would say I felt that I had an amazing amount of opportunity to gain responsibility

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Primark provides training in the Adobe suite to help you learn or develop your skills. I've also learnt how to effectively use trend forecasting sites, do a comp shop and create prints. Aside from this Primark holds different talks to help you develop your presentation skills, confidence and teamwork skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

They have a dedicated Early careers team which is super supportive. My manager was also amazing and we had weekly meetings to discuss my progress and problems. I was also given a buddy to help ease the transition of moving from the Uk to Dublin

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The overall atmosphere is good. There are often after work drinks and office organised parties that have a good atmosphere and allow you to network.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have had an amazing placement, anything that I have wanted to try I've been given the opportunity to. My team were amazing and really supported everything I did. I really enjoyed the work and was lucky to really develop my skills in illustrator and photoshop.
