Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role entailed managing sales, stock and line projections along with data analysis and reporting on our trade performance week on week.

I was given just as much responsibility as any other Trainee Merchandiser.

I have learnt how to analyse and report on data.
I have improved my presentations skills due to weekly meetings and a final project.
I have a better understanding of excel.
My collaboration skills have improved as we have to work closely with buyers also.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received an unlimited amount of support and guidance from both the early careers leads and then the team I was working with also.
I had constant catch ups with my team and set goals throughout the year.
We also had workshops together as a cohort to help with managing things like workload and understanding how to better work together as a team.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is very focused on development and collaboration which I really enjoyed.
It was welcoming from the beginning and there was a plan in place to help us get the most out of our experiences.
There was so much more I learned in terms of sustainability and the efforts made.
I also found it to be extremely inclusive.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I had an amazing placement year.
I was able to get a lot of hands on experience in a real corporate setting which has allowed me to pinpoint what it is I am looking for in the future.
The team and all the support I was given throughout was amazing!

What advice would you give to others applying to Primark
I would advise you to do your research on the job role beforehand and make sure you are aware of all the responsibility you will be given. It is a lot of fun but it is also full of learning opportunities and can be a great addition to your CV. So try to get involved in everything while you can.
