Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The vacation scheme was a mix of talks from different people across the firm and sitting in a department, carrying out tasks similar to those that a trainee would carry out.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really insightful to learn more about the business that Simmons carries out, for example who their top clients are and how cases normally unfold.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt how to deal with commercial documents, proofreading and drafting documents such as share purchase agreements and loan agreements. I have learnt how to more effectively network and developed soft skills that compliment a commercial environment.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was so friendly and supportive. Everybody within the team I was sat in was so thoughtful and really conscious of making me feel at home. The graduate recruitment team were so welcoming and made it very clear how the course of the vacation scheme would run.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the insight so much, I was valued in my team and really effectively conducted networking. There was the opportunity to meet all of the different teams in the firm and we had the chance to learn more about their work which was really useful.

I would say to just be themselves on the online interview questions and assessment centre and just research the firm thoroughly because the firm has so many groundbreaking sectors and so much work which differentiates them from the other firms in the city.
