Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Premier Foods?

I have just completed my induction period, having joined the company this September. Overall, my experience has been nothing but positive so far. The team here has been really welcoming and accommodating. The induction period was planned thoroughly, giving us a fantastic introduction to the company. I feel this is a place that I will be supported throughout my early career with the guidance needed to succeed.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Although I am new to my role, as a Marketing Graduate at Premier Foods, I will be supporting the development and growth of brands by analysing consumer insights, market trends, and sales performance to help shape marketing strategies. I will work on innovation projects from concept creation through to product launch, and will also collaborate closely with teams across the company, giving me insight into every sector.
My favourite part of my role so far has been learning the details about the brands we work on and the ins and outs of the business. Seeing the sites and how everything works behind the scenes has provided me with a real foundation that will help me excel. I have also been briefed on future projects I will be working on, leaving me very excited about the future prospects at Premier Foods!

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
It is still very early days for me, having only just completed my induction. However, in the short time that I have been part of a team I have been welcomed with open arms. I feel like I have been given ample opportunity to share my thoughts despite being new to the team.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
There are pay rises throughout the scheme, and I feel the pay reflects the level of knowledge and impact you obtain. We also have access to a staff benefits site, providing discounts for many things. The pension scheme is also highly competitive, setting us up for the future as well.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
I already feel like I have developed a level of knowledge beyond what I would consider 'ordinary'. Premier Foods has shown me the kind of work environment I would like to be in, it truly feels like a place where I will be supported yet also challenged to push myself and grow within my career.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
The induction period was fully focussed on assessing what skills we already possess and how these can harness our roles. We also learnt our week spots in terms of skills, and how we can improve these to benefit our roles. There has been the perfect balance of formal training and development of soft social skills, both of which will really help in my role.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
The induction period has been invaluable in helping me settle into the business. It provided me with a wide network of contacts and gave me the confidence to know who to reach out to for support.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
As I’m still quite new to the role, it’s early to say for certain, but my work-life balance has been good so far. The team is supportive, and I’ve found it easy to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal commitments.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
The culture is very welcoming and friendly, which makes it easy to settle in and build relationships across the business. As a food company, there is a real passion for the brands and products people work on, creating an enthusiastic and collaborative atmosphere. Everyone has been approachable and supportive, and there is a strong focus on helping individuals develop and succeed.

How would you rate Premier Foods initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
I would rate equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility initiatives exceptionally high. The company run many schemes directed at specific groups such as LGBTQ+, ethnic minorities, all the way down to woman suffering with infertility. The company seems very on it with maintaining a positive environment for all employees. Again, I am very new, but it seems like the kind of place where when you raise an issue relating to inclusion etc, it gets addressed as soon as possible.

How would you rate Premier Foods CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
I would rate Premier Foods' CSR initiatives very positively. The company demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability, community support, and creating an inclusive culture, which reflects its values as a responsible food business. Every staff member is granted one day of volunteering leave a year, this is a really good chance to give back to the community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Premier Foods to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I would recommend Premier Foods to a friend because it has a very welcoming and supportive culture that makes it easy to settle in and feel part of the team. Although I am still new to the business, my work-life balance has been good so far, and the induction period helped me build a strong network of contacts and understand where to go for support. There is a genuine passion for the brands and products people work on, creating a collaborative and engaging atmosphere, and the company's commitment to sustainability, community support, and inclusion demonstrates its values as a responsible business. The support and investment they offer into their grads is unmatched compared to what I have seen peers offered in their early careers.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5
Again, I am very new so it is hard to say excellent for certain, however so far it has matched my expectations, it is just hard to say for certain as I have only really truly entered my role recently.

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Premier Foods?

Really invest in your knowledge in the brand. You don't have to know the brand portfolio inside out during your application process, but I would say make sure you show a passion for what you are applying for, really show that you care. Remember, they are looking for a person, technical skills and knowledge on numbers can be taught and will come with time, just make sure you show you are passionate and have done your research.
