Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?

Being on my third week now, my experience has been surrounded by support and friendly people. I have been getting involved in away events such as 'Innovation Day' and Careers fairs which has helped my learning of the business and enabled me to meet loads of employees within Balfour Beatty. I have had the chance to sit with different people in the office to learn about their side of the department which is supporting me learn how everything operates. I am very happy with joining the business.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My role will be rotational on a 3 month basis, however with it only being my third week I am unsure of my next roles. At the moment the responsibilities include reviewing performance data using system such as confirm and map16 and analysing the data to fix issues or improve performance even more.

My colleagues know I am their for support and if there is anything they have which they would like an extra pair of hands on they are more than happy to teach me different things. I am looking forward to having my own responsibilities but for now I am enjoying learning new jobs.

- tax free travel insurance

The steps to success are very clear and with the amount of support through early careers and personal development their is so much to be able to learn that will help you in the future

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
My line manager was in contact with me throughout summer before I joined in September so we was able to build a good relationship prior to my start date, there was an opportunity to come into the office and meet the team before. On my first day everyone was welcoming and friendly which they still are very inclusive.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
I am in the office 3 days a week and on the days I am able to work from home I save time what i would use from travelling. The time that i start is flexible and unique to me as long as it is suitable so if I wanted to start at 7 and finish at 3 I could, or if I wanted to start at 9 and finish at 5 I also would be able to. It gives the extra flexibility.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
Very inclusive and positive, I do not have anything to improve on here

How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

It seems like it is a priority for the company
