Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Balfour Beatty to a friend?
Why?
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
The role has matched my expectations very well based on the recruitment process. The recruiter was extremely friendly and helpful throughout, and communication was excellent. The process was quick and efficient, and I never had to wait weeks for updates or feedback. The interviewers were also welcoming and easy to talk to, which made the interview feel more like a conversation than an assessment. Even though the interview lasted around an hour, it went by very quickly.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
Overall, my experience has been very positive. One improvement would be providing graduates with more opportunities to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities earlier on where possible, as this can help accelerate learning and development. There can sometimes be quieter periods with less work available, so having a structured pool of development tasks or project work could help graduates continue to build their skills. Improved office facilities, such as more private or gender-neutral toilet options, could also help make the workplace even more inclusive and comfortable for everyone.
For the advice to applicants:
Be yourself and don't be afraid to show your enthusiasm for the role and industry. The recruitment process was friendly and straightforward, and the interview felt more like a conversation than an assessment. Make sure you have a good understanding of the role you're applying for and be prepared to talk about your experiences and what you've learned from them. Most importantly, relax and let your personality come through, as everyone I spoke to during the process was approachable and welcoming.
