Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?

Good hands on experience, sometimes felt like you don't get the help required to flourish and learn on the job, my team were'nt exactly set up to help young graduates. Good atmosphere in the office but sometimes there is a bit of a macho, angry culture within the construction industry. Good place to work if you don't like being micromanaged, you manage your hours in your day.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

Enjoyed managing your own day
Enjoyed the physical outdoor nature of the role
enjoyed getting to be sociable at work and to see lots of different elements of constuction

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

2/5
Sometimes there is very little to do or it feels like you're doing a very easy, very menial job that it not as mentally challenging as the prior engineering degree.

some support but really depends on the team as with most cases, HR is there if required

How is your work-life balance?

1/5

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

2/5
Balfour are pushign to impove the culture which is inherent within construction but it will take years to make a tangible change
