Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
My experience at Balfour Beatty has been very positive. I have been provided opportunities to grow and develop my professional and personal life. Make valuable connections and have been provided ample support whenever I have needed it.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibilities include Ensure that operational controls implemented for the management of environmental risks and opportunities are assessed, monitored and their performance reported to the Site / Project Lead.
Communicate sustainability good practice, case studies, innovation and targets to theProject Team, Supply Chain, and wider HSES Teams.
Ensure Sustainability KPIs are reported, submitted, and signed off on a monthly basis in
the Sustainability Portal and are reported to the Project Team and Client (as required).
Act as the main point of contact for sustainability related items between the Project Team and
the wider HSES Team.
Provide technical support and advice such as planning works, applying for permits, consents
and exemptions.
Assist with engaging with regulatory bodies, local stakeholders and members of the
public. Ensure BMS requirements are met and develops appropriate documentation.
Supports in environmental risk mitigation measures on site.
Supporting site inspections and incident investigation.
Advise and score potential sub-contracts on sustainability credential

Being on site/in the office the majority of the time allows me to have hands on experience and witness scenarios first hand, enabling me to develop new skills and knowledge day to day while providing real world scenarios with outcomes.
