Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
My experience at Balfour Beatty has been highly positive and rewarding. Since joining the Finance Graduate Programme, I have been given the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks and gain valuable exposure to project finance within a major infrastructure project. I have developed my technical skills in areas such as financial analysis, reporting, cashflow management, and financial appraisals, while also improving my communication and stakeholder management skills. The support from colleagues and the collaborative working environment have helped me grow both professionally and personally.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibilities include completing financial appraisals, maintaining resource and cost trackers, supporting cashflow forecasting, reviewing financial information, managing timesheet processes, and preparing weekly and monthly reports. I also work with project teams and finance stakeholders to gather information and support decision-making.
The aspects of the role I enjoy most are analysing financial data, completing financial appraisals, and using tools such as Excel, Power Query, and Power BI to improve reporting and visibility. I also enjoy the variety of work, the opportunity to learn new skills, and being able to contribute to a large and complex infrastructure project while working with experienced professionals across different teams.
