Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?

Great, the graduate experience at Balfour Beatty is very well supported with lots of different experiences and opportunities to progress your skills and knowledge.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

I worked as a block manager on the West Slopes project for the University of Sussex. During my time here I have been given the opportunity to run and deliver my own building (project) from start to finish and handover.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
I am an important part of the team on this project. Working alongside other block managers to overcome daily issues and coordinate on going works

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

4/5
As a graduate CM you are looked after well with expenses paid for travel and benefits you can sign onto. However the contract I am on does not come with a car allowance but some other roles within the company do at graduate level.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
I have already been given the responsibilities that a site manager has to deal with. So I believe I am very prepared for my next step.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
You are enrolled into a lot of training with the graduate scheme however if you want further training you can apply for it through our internal portal.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

4/5
The on site support was very good, the team I have integrated into are very supportive of each other. HR are there if you need them but the contact information for the correct person for the problem you are having can be hard to find.

How is your work-life balance?

4/5
Generally very good I am on site for 7:30 and I leave at 5. This allows me my evenings to di what I like. I have time for the gym and my rugby training sessions. The only times this overruns is where evening shifts and weekend working need to be picked up but this is normal with the job role.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
Balfour Beatty work hard to promote a happy healthy working culture

How would you rate Balfour Beatty initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

5/5
Balfour Beatty also work hard to make their initiatives for equality diversity and inclusion known especially around the nominated calendar weeks.

How would you rate Balfour Beatty CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

5/5
On this project we have worked with local schools and universities and supported local charities. At a larger scale Balfour Beatty host and help organise regular events for all staff for example, touch rugby tournaments.
