Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
My experience at Balfour Beatty so far has been very positive. The company provides excellent training and development opportunities, which have helped me grow both professionally and personally. I've also appreciated the flexibility of the role, the support from managers and colleagues, and the friendly, approachable people who make it a great place to work. Overall, it's been a fantastic environment to start and develop my career.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, my responsibilities include supporting the commercial management of projects, assisting with procurement, managing subcontractor documentation, and helping to ensure costs are effectively monitored and controlled. The role provides exposure to a wide range of commercial activities, allowing me to develop a strong understanding of the construction industry. The aspect I enjoy most is the procurement side of the role. I find it rewarding being involved in the process of engaging subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating tender returns, and helping to secure the best value for the project while building relationships with the supply chain.
