worked within the Structures team, where I was required to be in the office every day, although office attendance requirements varied between teams. On a day-to-day basis, I assisted with structural calculations and contributed to the preparation of technical reports for engineering schemes. This involved analysing design information, carrying out calculations, and supporting the development and documentation of proposed solutions.

I was given a fair amount of responsibility and was trusted to produce technical work for live projects. I regularly discussed my work with other members of the team before it was formally checked and approved by a designated checker. This process helped me develop both my technical knowledge and confidence

Throughout my placement, I developed both my technical and professional skills. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team improved my communication and collaboration skills, as I regularly discussed my work with engineers and received feedback on my calculations and reports. I was able to apply knowledge gained at university. By contributing to calculations and report writing, I gained a better understanding of the engineering design process and how theoretical concepts are applied in practice. Additionally, taking responsibility for producing technical work helped me develop confidence, time management, and problem-solving skills while working within a professional engineering environment.

Throughout my placement, I received excellent support whenever I needed it. The team was approachable and willing to help, allowing me to ask questions and seek guidance on both technical and project-related matters. I regularly discussed my work with colleagues at all levels of experience, from graduate engineers to senior engineers .This supportive environment enabled me to develop my technical knowledge and confidence, as I was encouraged to ask questions and learn from more experienced members of the team. The feedback and advice I received helped me improve the quality of my work

The wider culture of the company was very positive and welcoming. Throughout my placement, everyone was friendly, approachable, and willing to offer help when needed. This created a supportive working environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and contributing to discussions.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and found it to be an extremely valuable and rewarding experience. The role allowed me to develop my technical knowledge, apply skills gained at university, and gain a greater understanding of the engineering industry. I was given meaningful responsibilities, supported by a knowledgeable and approachable team, and had the opportunity to contribute to real projects.
