Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The scheme ran for two weeks. Each week we sat in a different department (with the firm allocating based on preferences) and completed tasks with the guidance of a supervisor and a trainee buddy. Additionally, we engaged with regular insight sessions from lawyers in different practice areas, and were offered opportunities to get involved with pro bono work and learn more about the Cambridge office. There was a group project to complete as well.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful and inspiring. The firm did an excellent job of showing us all of the different ways a lawyer can work within the firm and how people can excel but also being realistic about the expectations that come with these roles.

Developed research and communication skills.
Improved the way in which I take on board feedback and implement necessary changes.
Interacted with new software that was needed to complete the relevant work.
Time management skills also progressed due to the need to balance our assigned work within departments, our insight sessions, the group project and also speaking individually to other lawyers around the firm.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly and engaging, with a strong emphasis on education in a supportive atmosphere. Instead of feeling pressured to achieve high standards, the atmosphere made it seem almost effortless.
