Overall, how would you describe your experience at Balfour Beatty?
My experience at Balfour Beatty has been extremely positive. As a Graduate Site Electronic Engineer within Design & Engineering, I have been given responsibility from an early stage while receiving support from experienced colleagues across the business. The graduate programme has provided excellent opportunities to develop both my technical and professional skills, allowing me to contribute to live projects while gaining exposure to different aspects of project delivery. The culture is collaborative, and I have felt encouraged to ask questions, take ownership of tasks, and continuously develop my knowledge of engineering and construction.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My role involves supporting the delivery of engineering solutions on major infrastructure and construction projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing technical information, carrying out site inspections and quality checks, supporting commissioning and testing activities, monitoring installation works, coordinating with subcontractors and project teams, and ensuring project documentation is maintained accurately. I also assist in resolving technical issues, tracking project progress, and ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with specifications and standards.
The aspects of the role I enjoy most are the variety of work and the opportunity to see engineering designs become real-life installations on site. I particularly enjoy conducting site inspections, problem solving with project teams, and working closely with experienced engineers and contractors. Seeing projects progress from design through to completion is highly rewarding, and every day provides opportunities to learn something new.

The tests/video interviews in the recruitment process are not everything, if a manager likes your CV they will want to have a face to face interview with you.
